On September 10, 2008 the FPU Presidium discussed possible FPU and its affiliates' activities on the World Day for Decent Work (October, 7th 2008) that was initiated by the ITUC.

   On September 30 it is planned to hold a round table "To Ensure Workers Rights at Every Workplace" with the participation of social partners, scientists, representatives of state bodies, MPs, other trade unions.

   Taking into account the relevance of the issue of securing decent work for all in Ukraine the FPU Presidium decided to support the ITUC call and organize activities on the World Day for Decent Work under the slogan "Decent Work – Basis for Decent Life".

   The FPU Presidium called FPU member organizations to organise on the World Day for Decent Work rallies, meetings with managers, round tables, and other events around the main theme of the Day. Resolutions, claims of the participants of these events will be sent to relevant authorities.

   On 7 October the FPU will organize public hearings and press-conference for mass media in order to draw the public attention to the challenge of securing decent work for all in Ukraine.

   All events held by FPU and its member organizations will be covered in trade union and general mass media. WDDW events planned by the Federation of Trade Unions of Ukraine in Kiev.

   On October 7 it is planned to hold public hearings on the theme "Decent Work – Basis for Decent Life" and press-conference on the same topic.

   4 types of leaflets to be prepared for the WDDW: "World Day for Decent Work", "For Decent Work in Ukraine", "Protect Your Right to Decent Work", "You Need Trade Union. Trade Union Needs You". The leaflets will be distributed on 1-7 October from tents with FPU logo situated in crowded places.

   A huge banner 10x12 meters will be hung out on the Trade Union House in the center of Kiev. Text of the banner: "Trade Unions – For Decent Work and Better Life! 7th October – World Day for Decent Work".

   On October 7, FPU Youth Council will perform a theatrical action "No to Shadow Wages" (burning of an envelope with shadow wages).

   A dedicated issue of newspaper "Trade Union News" will be published and distributed among participants in mass events that will be held in Kiev and regions.
