Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine Committee on National Security, Defense and Intelligence Oleksandr Zavitnevych has denied the information distributed in the media about the introduction of a revised bill on mobilization by the Cabinet of Ministers.

Zavitnevych wrote about this on Facebook, Ukrainian News Agency reports.

"Some media have spread false information that the government seems to have submitted to the Verkhovna Rada a revised bill on mobilization and military service. I want to refute these false reports. As of now, no such bills have come from the government to the Verkhovna Rada," he wrote.

Zavitnevych assured that as soon as such a document appears, the society will learn about it from official sources, and the bill itself will be available for review on the parliamentary website.

As Ukrainian News Agency earlier reported, on January 11, it became known that the Cabinet of Ministers decided to withdraw the bill on mobilization from the Verkhovna Rada.

Defense Minister Rustem Umierov on the evening of January 11 said that his team had already prepared a new version of the mobilization bill, taking into account all the proposals.

Verkhovna Rada Member from the European Solidarity faction Oleksii Honcharenko claimed that the parliament would consider the bill on mobilization on February 6, at the beginning of the new session.

Shmyhal sets record for term of office of Ukrainian Prime Minister

(Ukrainian News, Martynova Ludmyla,  24.01.2024 14:25:00)

48-year-old Denys Shmyhal, who has been in the position of Prime Minister since March 4, 2020 - for 1,422 calendar days today, has set a record for the tenure of Prime Minister of independent Ukraine, surpassing Mykola Azarov by this indicator. who served as Prime Minister from March 11, 2010 to January 28, 2014, i.e. 1,420 days.

During Shmyhal's premiership, almost the entire Cabinet of Ministers changed.

Yaroslav Zhelezniak, a member of the Verkhovna Rada from the Holos faction, mentioned in his Telegram channel that when Shmyhal was appointed, everyone predicted that he would not last a year.

"I remember that when he was appointed, everyone predicted that he would not even last a year... and here is the irony of fate for you," he wrote.

During the period of independence, 18 Prime Ministers changed in Ukraine.

Foreign Policy

MONITORING: United States planning to allocate almost USD 12 billion to Ukraine – Reuters

(Ukrainian News, Mazur Oleksandr,  24.01.2024 13:02:00)

The United States plans to allocate more than USD 11.8 billion in aid to Ukraine to support its economy during the war.

According to Reuters, United States Secretary of the Treasury Janet Yellen informed Prime Minister of Ukraine Denys Shmyhal about this initiative.

The administration of the U.S. President expresses its intention to direct significant financial resources to help Ukraine in the conditions of hostilities. It is noted that these funds are intended for solving government expenses and supporting economic processes in the country.

In the statement of the U.S. Department of the Treasury after the virtual meeting of the representatives of the two countries, Yellen emphasized the importance of the rapid implementation of financial assistance from the Congress for Ukraine.

The U.S. hopes that other countries will also join in providing aid to Ukraine. "Donor countries" are projected to provide about three-quarters of Ukraine's required external funding in 2024, which will support vital government initiatives, including hospitals, schools, and emergency response services.

In the statement of the Ministry of Finance of the United States, it was noted that the financial support of Ukraine is necessary for its successful struggle on the battlefield. It is also considered a manifestation of the determination of the U.S. and its allies to protect the country's territorial sovereignty and democratic freedoms.

The Treasury adds that providing financial assistance to Ukraine will contribute to the victory of the war and the protection of U.S. national security interests in the international arena.

As the Ukrainian News agency earlier reported, during the eighteenth meeting of "Ramstein," the allies will discuss the continuation of military aid to Kyiv despite the underfunding of the United States.

Ukrainian air defense have to save missiles to protect against russian attacks – White House

(Ukrainian News, Mazur Oleksandr,  24.01.2024 13:22:00)

Ukraine's air defense forces were forced to save missiles during a missile attack on Tuesday, January 23, as there is still uncertainty about the next U.S. deliveries.

This was stated by the coordinator of the National Security Council of the White House, John Kirby, at a briefing.

According to him, the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU) "made difficult decisions" about how many air defense missiles to use since the lack of a decision on the continuation of funding for military aid from the United States forces to leave some of the missiles "for another day."

"We don't see any serious push by the russians for any kind of ground offensive, and I don't rule out that they won't try to do that ... but what they are doing is trying to disable Ukrainian air defense systems, and those air defense systems are quite effectively knocking a lot of things out of the sky that fly in. They obviously don't care that they don't hit everything, but that's why it's so important that we get this extra funding because, as I said before, the Ukrainians made the tough decisions on the battlefield about what they're going to shoot and what they're going to save for another day," Kirby said.

Speaking at a briefing on January 23, Kirby noted that "attacks on civilian infrastructure facilities, residential buildings, and districts are again not something that Putin did not shy away from in the past in order to break the will of the Ukrainian population and its defense."

As the Ukrainian News agency earlier reported, after Christmas, the United States of America provided the last package of military aid to Ukraine, for which funds were allocated. Congressional support is needed to resume the flow of aid.

On December 29, U.S. President Joe Biden called on Congress to approve new funding for aid to Ukraine against the background of the russian federation's massive attack on Ukraine. He emphasized that air defense systems are "vitally important" for the protection of the civilian population.

Defense Intelligence confirms destruction of database of russian research center processing satellite data

(Ukrainian News, Mazur Oleksandr,  24.01.2024 13:52:00)

In russia, the database of the Planeta far eastern scientific research center of space hydrometeorology was destroyed.

This follows from a statement by the Defense Intelligence of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine.

It is reported that this federal-level enterprise receives and processes data from satellites and also provides relevant products to more than 50 state entities, including the Ministry of Defense, the General Staff, and the Ministry of Emergency Situations of the russian federation.

"The attack against the Far Eastern (the largest of the three) branch of the Planeta was carried out by cyber-patriot volunteers from the BO Team group. The consequences are devastating!" said the Defense Intelligence.

It is noted that penetration into the database of the center made it possible to destroy 280 servers involved in the common network.

"The amount of destroyed information is about two petabytes (200 million gigabytes) of data. The value of the digital array lost by russia may amount to at least USD 10 million. Among the destroyed are weather and satellite data, which were actively used by the Ministry of Defense and the Ministry of Emergencies of the russian federation, Roscosmos, and a number of other agencies of the aggressor state, as well as unique research developed over the years," the message says.

The Defense Intelligence reported that the operation of the supercomputers equipped with the Far Eastern center is paralyzed and cannot be fully restored.

"One such computing device, together with the software, costs USD 350,000. In the conditions of tough sanctions against russia, it is practically impossible to get such software again. Along with data warehouses, servers, and computers, the air conditioning and humidification systems, as well as emergency regulation, were paralyzed as a result of the cyberattack," adds the Defense Intelligence.

The Defense Intelligence also informed about a bonus: the russian station in the Arctic on the island of Bolshevik was completely cut off from the network. According to the Defense Intelligence, this station performs important tasks in the military sphere of the russian federation.

"In general, dozens of strategic companies of the russian federation, which work for "defense" and play a key role in supporting the russian occupying forces, will remain without critically important information and services for a long time," the Security Service of Ukraine (SSU) assures.

It was also reported that the military intelligence of Ukraine recently conducted a successful cyber-special operation against the Federal Air Transport Agency of the russian federation ("Rosaviation") and gained access to closed official data of the russian agency.
